The Big Book-Poem

“The Big Book”

Glancing in the glass, monster appears
Hidden was she for many years
My face distorts, double mirrors
Long lived self control, buried fears

Dealing with this all alone

Luscious burning booze sliding down
Warmed gut and thoughts without a sound
The judgment makes me tremble round
Numbness prevails, want to be drowned

Where is my family, my home

Remember this like yesterday
Cascading my life to decay
Withheld inclination on this day
Kept mirror monster at bay

Practiced abstaining, finely honed
