My Query Letter

I am seeking representation for the series “Poisoned Soul”.

An epic trilogy in which the main character and antagonist, Mason Hudson, is afflicted with Dissociative Identity Disorder, one of his alters being a serial killer, as Mason is unaware of the explicit, gruesome murders he has committed, which propels himself and the public into dealing with this harrowing tale.

Mason Hudson AKA Hunter Cook share a body but have a separate conscience. Cook, the shrewd murderer ends the life of a beloved character. He stumps the law, evades capture but eventually, with the dedication of private investigator Benjamin Walker, faces our justice system. This first novel “Within These Walls”, lands Hudson/Cook in court with a shocking verdict.
With established characters and sub plots Cook goes on to slaughter and mutilate his way into becoming a serial killer. Protagonist Kevin Reinhardt brings Mason down in an exhilarating police standoff, which puts Mason behind bars at the close of the second novel ” The Evil Within”.
Courtroom drama opens “Without Remorse” where an insanity verdict is unanimous and Mason is sentenced to four consecutive life terms in a prison for the criminally insane. This final novel is mixed with new colorful, crazy characters. With Mason’s ideation of escape and sessions with Dr. Weston, the tale remains amazing and addicting… with a surprise ending.

Eber& Wein Publishing

I’m proud to say… I’ve been asked to submit a poem for Eber&Wein Publishing’s Who’s Who in American Poetry. I submitted “Grasping at Straws”. Two years ago I got published in their yearly anthology with “In Full Bloom”. Now I’m not bragging really…a year later they requested a poem and I sent “Lasagna Love” and I never heard back from them. Lol. I guess that wasn’t they’re cup of tea. Anyway I’ll see what happens this time. There is a prize involved too. That’s always exciting. 🙂

Excerpt from “The Evil Within”

He was on Colfax and Elizabeth street and there she stood. She was obviously a hooker, all alone, on the corner of the parking lot at a retail complex. He rolled up on her, she inconspicuously slid into the passenger seat and he continued to drive.
“How much,” is all he asked.
“Depends on what you’re looking for,” she answered.
“First of all I want to use handcuffs, you go for that?”
“Figures my first trick of the night and you have to be kinky.”
A whore with an objectionable attitude he thought wryly.
“You aren’t that special bitch, I can always let you out.”
“No, no…I just got in a fight with my man that’s all.”
“Well, are we going to let that interfere with our fun,” asked Hunter?
“Let’s get down to business; handcuffs are all right…what else do you want?”
For the first time since she climbed in the car, he turned to look at her. She was uncommonly pretty, young, had long straight auburn hair, inquisitive green eyes, straight nose, cheekbones most women praised, a full pouting mouth, long slender neck, (which caused Hunter pause), long lean legs exposed by a mini skirt and huge silicone breasts in a push up bra. Overall she was quite striking…but fake he thought.
“First we have to find a place to park where we won’t get busted.”
“I know the perfect place,” she said.
This surprised Hunter, he decided it made his job a lot easier. She directed him to a small park. The lot was well hidden by trees and bushes, even though they were bare due to the winter months. There were no other vehicles, it seemed ideal and the clock was slowly ticking. Hunter reached in back into the gym bag. He grabbed the half empty bottle of peppermint schnapps. He offered the girl a drink and took a long pull for himself; it burned lusciously all the way down.
“You need a little liquid courage?” she asked teasingly.
“If only you knew,” he answered, “I’m ready for the handcuffs.”
“You’re not one for much conversation, are you? Sometimes that’s all my customers want.”
“I’m a man of few words, I believe actions speak louder.” he gave her that one of a kind crooked smile.
For the first time she realized how handsome he really was and wondered about his story. He reached back again, got in the bag, pulled out the handcuffs and she willingly offered him her wrists.
He couldn’t keep his eyes off her long, lean neck. As he fitted the cuffs he leaned close to her, caught the scent of fresh bath soap, lotion and her sweet perfume. Hunter was getting excited; his heart rate reflecting his eagerness.
The young girl asked him what he wanted next.
He said, “Fellatio.”
She giggled, “What?”
He explained, clearly exactly what he wanted. She scooted over in the seat, trying to situate herself, hindered by the restraints. He was unzipped and she bent her head down. Hunter was only turned on by what was in store for this tramp. She deserved what was coming; he was convinced all women did.

Hunter took another snort of the schnapps, put it down and grabbed the length of nylon rope. His heart was hammering in his chest as he jerked her head back by her long silky hair, wrapped the rope around her beautiful neck and started to apply pressure. She gasped in shock, started struggling in earnest, she was much stronger than she looked. He fought to hold onto the rope and let go of the auburn locks to use both hands. She was able to choke out a faint scream and continued to kick and twist. Hunter almost lost his precarious grip, regained control and tightened the noose.
After what seemed like an eternity she finally fell silent, her muscles slackened, she stared out of vacant eyes, saliva running down her chin and her head slumped into his lap. The little bitch caused him to grapple to such an extent that he failed to have an orgasm.
Hunter was beyond rage! He couldn’t wait to cut her, take his memento and possess the second digit in his new collection. He first had to drive to the dumping ground.

Me In My Work Area

I love working!! It cleanses my soul. It exercises my brain and it leads to an end result. What could be better?
I’m working on an old computer with no internet connection. I have my even older BlackBerry for researh and thesaurus.
Pretty ghetto….but it seems to work:)
Go to library to
publish. Speaking of which. Lulu publishes PDF files immediately and simply.
Smashword is better for word documents.
Formatting for smashwords is very difficult.
I wrote and edited my first novel 15 times. I then formatted with smashwords style guide. I was frustrated and lost! Then I found out u could pay to have these things done for u. I’m on SS for a mental diability and couldn’t afford the help. Then….I found on publishers site they had free help for people in my position or with other problems. The guy finished formatting my book and published it as a Premium book absolutely FREE!
Whew…..that helped. My childrens book was PDF so it was a cinch on Lulu. I’m not looking forward to publishing again soon. All though my extreme stubbornness got me thru it last time.
I’m going to post a few more book covers. Hope you’re not sick of them. I just welcome constructive criticism!!

Happy Reading!

Excerpt- “The Evil Within” Book two of “PoIisoned Soul” series Coming soon…..

Mason put in a movie and grabbed the bottle of schnapps. His nerves were raw and he needed something to dull the pain. He drank more of the bottle than intended and soon he was fast asleep.
Mason was six. His mom was healed and looked like herself again. His little brother Morgan was back and he was two years old. The six year old did not like how Morgan got all of the attention. His incessant crying permeated the dream. Mason hated the sound. He covered his ears but he could still hear the unending screeching through his tightened fingers.
Mason was enraged and floated in to the living room where the aquarium stood. ‘So pretty’, Morgan would say in his babies voice. His mom laughed loud ans squeezed the little boy. ‘So pretty’, Mason wanted to squeeze his neck, but good mother was always hovering over good baby.
The wailing was coming from the crib upstairs so Mason knew he had time.
He got the small green metal fish net, scooped up one ‘pretty’ fish and dropped it on the floor. It flopped and struggled, its tiny fish mouth opening and closing for air. Mason knelt down in amazement and watched the fish die. He felt free and wonderful! He repeated the process; in an out of body experience, until every fish lay dead on the rug.
Mason’s chubby fingers grabbed an ink pen and began poking out their eyes. It squished and the sound echhoed off the walls, back into his enraptured ears. For a few glorious moments, he could hear only the soupy sound, instead of the fussing of his little brother.
Then in his dream state, Mason was in the dark backyard, digging up the long dead kitty. He had built a mound of dirt and he had to be getting close. The iron shovel struck something hard and he knew he had his prize.
It no longer stunkk the cat was just loose furry bones. You could see the cracks in its skull where the wooden stool had its fun. He gathered the cadaver and secreted it away in a urine soaked pillow case.
The dream had landed him in his room where he removed the fur laden bones, laid it on his pillow and carefully snuggled his head into the hairy mass. He inhaled death and tasted revenge.

Mason woke up. Feeling satisfied. This was a dream he could deal with. He remembered the dead cat and had kept it until his horrified mother discovered it under his bed. She immediately through it in the trash truck. Eleanor knew her young boy had serious mental problems but never spoke a word about them and kept the information a deep dark secret.
