I have received eleven rejections so far out of 62 queries. Two literary agents asked me for chapters of my work. On my way to library to email them. Wish me luck…and a small prayer couldn’t hurt!!
Well I’ve submitted eighteen queries. I’m using my phone and having to type the query letter each time. Some agents ask for first 5 pages, 10 pages, first chapter, three chapters and 50 pages. Worked on getting info on flash drive, now I need to go to library. Already got one denial and one agency asked for first ten pages. I’m determined to do this! My stubborn Irish streak will come in handy.
Most agency’s take anywhere from two to six weeks to contact you…if they do at all.
Remaining happy and hopeful!!
If you are looking for an publishing agent, Google Agent Query. It has a treasure trove of names, info and it’s easy to use.
I emailed seven queries yesterday and I plan to do two or three a day. It just takes peaking the interest in one agent…I hope this letter will do that!!
I am seeking representation for the series “Poisoned Soul”.
An epic trilogy in which the main character and antagonist, Mason Hudson, is afflicted with Dissociative Identity Disorder, one of his alters being a serial killer, Mason is unaware of the explicit, gruesome murders he has committed, which propels the public and himself into dealing with this harrowing tale.
Mason Hudson AKA Hunter Cook share a body but have a separate conscience. Cook, the shrewd murderer ends the life of a beloved character. He stumps the law, evades capture but eventually, with the dedication of private investigator Benjamin Walker, faces our justice system. This first novel “Within These Walls”, lands Hudson/ Cook in court with a shocking verdict.
With established characters and sub plots, Cook goes on to slaughter and mutilate his way into becoming a serial killer. Protagonist Kevin Reinhart brings Mason down in an exhilarating police standoff, which puts Mason behind bars at the close of the second novel “The Evil Within”.
Courtroom drama opens ” Without Remorse”, where an insanity verdict is unanimous and Mason is sentenced to four consecutive life terms in a prison for the criminally insane. This final book is mixed with new colorful, crazy characters. With Masons ideation of escape and sessions with Dr. Weston, the story remains amazing and addictive, with a surprise ending.

I thank you for your time!
Mason had no idea that Vanessa even existed, no recollection of the conversation.
“I want to move on to your mother.”
“Fuck! This just gets worse by the God damned minute, Doc!”
“You told me that your mother gave you an enema every morning, is this true?”
“Hell yes it’s true, my ass hurt all the time!”
“I think we’re done here for the day Hudson, put your mask on the shelf and skedaddle.”
“Fine with me but we just got started, Doc.”
“I just remembered an important report I’ve got to write and soon, we can meet tomorrow at the same time.”
“I thought it was three times a week.”
“Well I’ve just decided it will be every day until I tell you different, Hudson.”
Mason placed his partially worked on mask on the shelf and turned to the doc.
“Can you tell ME about Chief and Shultzie?”
“Where did you hear those names Hudson?”
“Around…and I’m curious about other DID patients.”
“That’s none of your concern and a breach of confidentiality. Now get out of here.”
Mason left feeling confused and as if he had just come out of a fugue. He knew he had lost some time in there but wasn’t sure how.
Dr. Weston went directly to Warden Strickland’s office. He knocked hurriedly.
“Come,” she said.
The doctor was flushed and out if breath.
“Adele I’ve just come from a session with Mason Hudson and it was astounding!”
“Calm down Dean, before you have a coronary. What happened?”
“A third alter surfaced! That makes two new ones in the last couple if weeks! At first I was terrified when his eyes were dilating in rhythm; I thought Hunter Cook was surfacing.”
“So you’re 100% sure he’s DID and not faking?”
“This third alters name is Vanessa. I took her vitals and they were well within the normal range but seconds later I took Hudson’s and the readings were absolutely different. He also has no clue Vanessa exists.”
“What role does Vanessa fill?”
“She’s a twenty something, seductive, sexy female that had sex with Leonard Hudson.”
“Taking the place if the child…” said Adele.
“Right…I also believe Eleanor Hudson knew it was going on. Vanessa said oral sex and sodomy, which was why she applied enemas, to wash away the sin.”
“How distressing and heartbreaking , Dean.”
“It is no wonder the man has DID. Didn’t have a chance as a child.”
“What about Hunter and killing things …what’s that all about?”
“Rage, control and relieving pressure.”
“You have your work cut out for you Dean.”
“I’m seeing him daily from now on.”
“Will that cut too much into your schedule; I know it’s super tight.”
“I can squeeze him in …I’m not sure I ever want to meet Hunter Cook though.”
“Well my God Weston…are you really scared of him?”
“Damn right I am. Cook is a killing machine!”
“The guards are right outside your door, yell and they are in there.”
“I wonder if we jumped the gun moving him into the general population.”
“Don’t second guess my authority Dean, that wouldn’t do.”
“Yes ma’am.” He knew who was boss.
“Speaking on my fear of Hunter Cook, I’ve come up with his treatment plan and need to have it approved.”
“I’ve got fifteen minutes Dean.”
“I think I’ve established a strong therapeutic relationship and a safe environment. Hudson and I need to discuss appropriate boundaries and ECT, (electroconvulsive therapy).”
“Which is used when patients are a severe threat to themselves or others and are too dangerous to wait for medications to take effect…yes I know all of this Weston.”
“I’ve started him on lithium but I’m afraid it only makes him feel more restrained and managed.”
“I tend to agree with you. Go ahead and take him off the lithium and I approve the ECT.”
“Then we will develop no-harm contracts, get an understanding of his personality structures, work through traumatic material, develop some mature psychological defenses and lastly integrate the states of self.”
“Sounds like a good plan. Let’s start him on the ECT tomorrow… with Hunter Cook that is our priority.”
“Well thanks Adele for the approval, we’ll get started as soon as he is tested.”
Mason Hudson is in San Lamas, a prison for the criminally insane. He is afflicted with DID and one alter is Hunter Cook, a serial killer. Mason is meeting with Dr. Dean Weston for therapy….
Mason was in Dr. Weston’s office for some more head shrinking.
“Grab your art project and we’ll get started Hudson.
Mason reached up on the shelf and retrieved his so called mask. He hated talking to the Doc; he was too good at what he did.
“How you feeling today Hudson?”
“Pretty good. I finally got commissary privileges yesterday and bought much needed items.”
“I see you have new clothes on, how does that make you feel?”
“Fucking human, Doc.”
Mason got his box of newspaper strips and the doctor had already mixed the flour and water.
“Now, you want to make the back of the mask smooth and then you can start building the face.”
“Is this really the fuck necessary?”
“You seemed more relaxed in the last session and I think that’s due to keeping your hands busy…just humor me Hudson .”
Mason slathered on the flour mix, front and back and laid it on the balloon. It didn’t look like much of anything, but he kept at it.
“I think we’ll start where we left off last time. You mentioned ‘Big Bob’.”
Mason virtually stiffened. He usually had steady hands but they were trembling.
He threw the paper mache balloon at the wall.
“I cannot go there Weston!”
It just bounced off and the doctor told him to pick it up and continue. Mason did as he was told, with his eyes downcast throughout.
“OK, we both know who ‘Big Bob’ is and you need to talk about it. It is the only way to recovery, no matter how painful.
“I hate that mother fucker!!”
“How old were you when the sexual abuse started?”
“I guess four or five; I remember wearing my Batman pajamas.”
“You have excellent recall Hudson; it is unusual to remember things at such a young age.”
“Well…it’s something I will never forget!”
“So, you had on your Batman pajamas and what happened?”
Dr. Weston was afraid for the first time in all of his years of practice. When Mason raised his head he looked directly into the doctor’s eyes. Once again the inner struggle presented itself. His corneas swelled and retracted. This went on for a few short seconds but scared Dean Weston; he wasn’t sure who would win the battle.
“Well doctor…’Big Bob’ was our pet name for his cock.”
Mason’s voice turned into a sultry woman’s. He looked completely different in a very feminine way. He crossed his legs like a woman and pulled up the pant legs. He was sexily swinging his leg from the knee down, pointing his toes. He straightened his shoulders and pushed out his chest.
Dr. Weston found himself talking to another alter.
“What’s your name ma’am?”
“Vanessa darling, and ma’am makes me feel very old.”
“How old are you?”
“You should know better than to ask a lady her age.” She winked at him.
“How long have you been with Mason?”
“Who’s Mason,” she said completely baffled.
Dr. Weston checked his notes thoroughly before asking his next question.
“Did you know Leonard Hudson?”
“Oh yes…he was such a handsome man and his wife knew nothing of our sexual encounters.”
Vanessa leaned forward adjusted her breasts and was in truth flirting with Dr. Weston.
“What did you do with ‘Big Bob’, Vanessa?”
“Oh! What a personal question. A lady should never kiss and tell.”
“I’m a medical doctor, trained in these matters and it’s OK if you tell me a little bit… I would also like to take your blood pressure and pulse, if you don’t mind.”
Dr. Weston got his BP cuff and the reading was 135 over 86 and her pulse was 85.
“A doctor huh? You most likely have heard it all before ….well, I gave him oral sex and then he would always sodomize me.”
Weston couldn’t hide his shock and disgust, it showed in his face.
“Oh, I’ve gone and said too much doctor, I apologize.”
Suddenly Vanessa’s head slumped and when it was raised Mason had returned to normal.
“So…I was wearing my Batman pajamas and do I really have to say Weston?”
“Before we move on I would like to take your pulse and blood pressure.”
“Go for it Doc.”
Within less than a minute the readings were very different. His BP was 120 over 72 and his pulse rate was 70 beats per minute.
Dr. Weston had read that alters could have entirely different readings and he just found this to be true. He was now 100% sure of the DID diagnosis.
Too be continued ……..
